The vast area located below the river Harnen, south of Gondor and Mordor. Although (periodically) autonomous, Umbar is in Harad. Harad is also called Haradwaith, a label which corresponds to the people of the region. The main regions of Harad are Near Harad, Far Harad and Greater Harad (and Anbalukkhôr?).
