Switching to 8.0 version of Merp.com

Greetings, Merp.com 7 is falling apart. we could spend more hours trying to fix the latest problems, or just lock it "read-only" as was done with 6.0, and make 8.0 "go live" now, and put the time into the new site, rather than trying to fix the older broken one.

The down side is that , yet again, you will have to register your account anew. Since we were unable to make an "in-place" upgrade work, migrating the accounts from the old site to the new site will introduce bugs. Also since the old site did not do as good a job at stopping the creation of bogus spam accounts (though they never actually become published or live, they did end up in the user database), this is a chance to clean out the cruft of invalid accounts.

The old versions of the website will remain accessible until we finish migrating all the content to the new site. You access the read-only versoins here:
