MERP Rules program for PC (Free)

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ogresoft/MERPA.rar

Program runs using ms net framework 2.0 which will be set up by the installer if you don't already have it.

Unzip all files to the same directory and run setup.

Overview.

Just about everything from the MERP rules is in the program, MM, SM, Combat, Spells, Experience calculation, travel + encounters, foraging, price lists, spell lists, criticals, resistance rolls etc.

Up to 50 characters and 200 monsters/npcs can be stored at once. The program uses a rooms system to keep track of monsters. Eg 5 Orcs are given room number 1, another 6 Orcs are in room 2, 2 trolls in room 3 etc. In the admin menu you specify which room(s) you want the program to use in the various screens and only the monsters from that room(s) will be in the various drop down boxes in the combat/spells etc screens.

Characters can be specified as active or not, again limiting the number appearing for use in the various screens.

Screens run using drop down boxes to specify who's doing the action, what weapon/spell etc, who the target is and the program obviously knows all the bonuses to apply, you then get the choice of entering a dice roll or hitting the auto roll button. Any damage, activity reduction, stuns etc is automatically applied to the victim.

Other Stuff:

Story recording option that will keep track of everything that happens in the program, converting critical results into normal english.

Custom Map: Load in your own jpg image and use 15 labels to mark positions, you can also set the floor scale for the image and find ranges.

Middle Earth Map: Main map with 9 zoom views on which you can mark the party position.

Experience: The program remembers who did what crit to which monster and who killed it, also how many of each type of monster the character has killed and works out experience for combat, maneuvers, spells, damage taken, and travel. Idea points are totalled as you go through calculating the xp.

Shop: Lists all items from the rule book, admin can set the shops buying and selling rates as required. Magic item prices also included.

Spell Lists: Description of every spell from the book.

Adolescant Skill Developement: Choose your race, automatically apply the bonuses to the character.

Single Player Dungeon: Create a party of characters and generate a single player dungeon, a 10x10 grid of rooms is generated with doors, traps, chests and secret compartments. Monsters are generated to match the parties strength. The 21 room types all have their own custom map floor plan. The party is placed near the center of the grid and has to find the escape door on one of the edges.

Theres probably a few more things I can't remeber offhand but if you want to have a look then download the rar file above.

Any questions/problems either post here or use the online support link that gets generated in the start menu when installing (you will have to apply to join the forum from that link as we've been having problems with spammers).

You should consider posting this as a "News Item" in your own folder as well ("My folder"), and then change the news item status from the default of "Public Draft" to "Published". Then it will

show up on the main Merp.com front news page.

Also consider uploading the file(s) to your folder, and then emailing webmaster at merp dot com, to have us move it to the main Downloads (Computers) section, so that it can

be replicated to the mirror sites around the world.

Cheers!

Hi,

I am GM'ing a MERP game and have downloaded your program to see if it will help.

Thanks for the obvious time and effort you spent coding this.

I know how it can be, MERP has a lot of if's, and's, and but,s nested in the rules

I wrote an app called MerpManager in VB.net and I never finished the round by round sequencer.

Thanks again

FYI,  Paul. You might want to check the Downloads forum. You have someone who wants to use your app, but is

requesting it be in a .zip format instead of .rar format.

Cheers!
